Moving... it's such a pain in the ass.
I'm currently leasing a house and will be moving in either late September/October to a newly constructed townhouse here in Portland. With the impending move, I know that moving karma will come in handy.
This weekend, 2 friends of mine: Carl and Ryan, are moving closer to where I currently reside in North East. Now is a good time to build that Karma. There went my Saturday, well not completely, as it's only 8:30pm right now.
My morning consisted of waking up at 9am, gathering my clothes/linens together and going to the local laundromat to get my things washed. Yes, I do live in a house, but the washer in my house has been broken for over a year now. I suppose that I should have raised the issue with my landlord, but the landlord is my parents, so the subject is a bit precarious to raise. Have you ever tried to ask your parents for money? I'm sure it's easier for some people, but for me it's not. My family is weird about money... I'll have to tangent on that another time.
So in the morning, I gathered everything together and then did my usual pattern: Pack the clothes, go to Starbucks, order my Quad Venti, no foam, extra hot cinnamon dulce latte. Just a bit picky, I know, but when I'm paying 5 bucks for a drink, I don't want 1/4 of it foam. Literally, I've had that multiple times and have finally gotten fed up with that as I've been informed by the baristas that Starbucks actually authorizes up to a 1/2 inch of a drink to be foam. WTF?!? "Please charge me $5 and only serve me half a drink... I liked to be screwed." Well, I do like to be screwed, but not monetarily.
The local Starbucks to me is frequented by some neighbors of mine, one being a patron that lives right next door to me. He's such a great guy, and his family is actually been there the second longest. My family has lived on the block the fourth longest... and we've lived on this block for over 25 years now.
Anyways, he was there, so we spoke a bit until a barista came by whom was done with her shift. I wish I would have spoken more to her before, but I found out that today was her last day for awhile, as she's heading back to finish up her Masters in education. She wants to teach 3rd grade. She is pretty cute too. Intelligence is a big turn on for me. A woman who is self sufficient, is strong willed and educated will get me every time. But alas, another missed opportunity for a possible connection... although I learned that she will be house sitting for my neighbor come September... hrm. I'll keep you posted on that one.
So after getting my drink and cinnamon roll, I shot the talk for a bit, then went and did my laundry. Laundromats are wonderful, you get all kinds that frequent those. But usually I just put on my headphones, stuff the machines and wait for them to complete their job as I drink my coffee, eat my roll and read the newspaper.
Once that was done, I went back home and ended up rolling out to my friends new place to help them unpack. I was a little late to help on the full job, but they were still grateful for the assistance. I'm sure it went much faster with an additional set of hands to help them out. One part of the move we had to get a couch up to their 3rd floor apartment, and the couch didn't fit in the elevator, so we had to move it up the stairs.
This apartment complex they're moving into is old... like almost bomb shelter old. Probably built in the 40's or so, so the stairwell isn't uniform, the hallways are narrow and the architecture is pretty unforgiving. But we did it. Ever played Tetris before? Yeah, I had to enlist those skills in order to get it up there for us. Carl and Ryan were stuck on tactics for moving it a few times, but I came up with enough positioning and was creative enough to get it up and into the apartment. As I told them at one point, plus to a bystander who was there to turn on their cable: "I'll Project Manage the Fuck out of this", heh. Brute force and awkwardness helps at times as well.
During the move, I received a call from LF letting me know that she has come down with laryngitis.. (Hope that's not contagious, as I'll more than definitely develop it... bleh.) Just had to head over to my company's website to check that out, and thankfully it's not contagious.
I also received some communique from C, seeing if we could possibly meet up today. Right now she's down at the BrewFest and saying it's rather fun... Ugh, too bad I'm pretty tired from the move. I'm sure I could rally up, but I'm not feeling too well (I've learned that Starbucks always give me gas... :( ) And don't feel too attractive right now. Plus, LF was asking me to come over to "cuddle" her tonight and make her feel better. Yeah, cuddle... Last time I "cuddled" with her, she O'd on her couch. Maybe a bit TMI, but it's true. Yet she continues to tell me she won't sleep with anyone until she's been "talking" to them for at least 3 weeks. But she did invite me to go up to a Mariner-Red Sox game in a few weeks and stay the night up there. Yeah, sure, cuddle.
In any case, it sounds more fun than staying home. I know for a fact that LF already knows how I look and all, I could just take a quick shower, get over there and have some fun for a bit, and cuddle. I think I'll pack protection, because you just... never... know. :)
But I have to work C into the relationship before I absolutely miss that opportunity. I have a soccer game tomorrow in the afternoon, the Brew Fest is tomorrow as well... Grr. Might have to set it up for next week, Tuesday or Wednesday.
